Currently 9000 tonnes of pineapples are imported into NZ. The majority of the imported pineapples are the Smooth Cayenne. Smooth Cayenne are a canning pineapple not a fresh eating table pineapple. The Queen Pineapple is a gourmet pineapple the fresh eating table pineapple which is sweeter and with an edible core. 

Pineapple plants are self perpetuating and grow their replacement plants but will produce pineapples for ten years or more. 

After purchasing your first hectare of pineapple plants, within a few years you will be able to increase your number of hectares without the need to buy more plants. This prospect is very profitable. The return on investment is exceptional.
